Work Experience

What are you good at? What are you passionate about? Here's a chance to gain some practical experience, try new work environments, and also enhance your prospects when applying for jobs with the authority and other employers.

What is work experience?

Work experience offers people an opportunity to investigate potential career paths and develop key skills needed in employment. Work experience is open to everyone over the age of 14. However, some placements may be restricted to persons over 16 year of age, or those undertaking certain studies, due to the nature of the work.

The process to request work experience with the Council:

To request work experience with the Council, please complete the form below. This will take around 10 minutes to complete: https://forms.office.com/e/nXFVTyWiWR

Upon completing the form, you will receive an acknowledgement email once this has been received by our team. We will aim to follow-up within 6 weeks. Please note that completing this form does not guarantee a work experience placement. You should aim to complete this form 2 months in advance of your anticipated placement to allow sufficient time.

Work experience is an unpaid opportunity, and therefore we cannot cover any expenses incurred.

If we are able to offer a placement then we will confirm this in an email putting you in contact with the departments manager to liaise with ahead of the first day. If we are unable to offer a placement then we will also be in contact to explain, too.
